Past Events

Stony Brook Doubleheader  

Stony Brook Doubleheader Summary: (3/28/09)
The first-ever Lacrosse for Autism Doubleheader on March 28th, 2009 was hosted by Stony Brook University (NY) benefiting the Cody Center for autism developmental disabilities. The event featured Duke University vs Dartmouth College at noon followed by UMBC vs Stony Brook at 2:30pm. The large Long Island crowd watched Duke defeat Dartmouth 12-6 followed by UMBC defeating Stony Brook 14-8 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The event raised over $ 6300.00 for the Cody Center. Thank you to Stony Brook Athletics and Lacrosse Unlimited for the continued support.


Smithtown East vs West  

Smithtown East vs West Summary: (4/4/09)
This cross town rivalry has been a battle for years...but the first year with Lacrosse for Autism on April 4th, 2009. Sponsored by Lacrosse Unlimited and hosted at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium at Stony Brook University. Smithtown East defeated Smithtown West 9-5 in front of a large crowd close to 2000 fans and families. Special thanks to Smithtown Youth Lacrosse for promoting the event and purchasing event tees for players to wear and support the event. The event raised funds for Lacrosse for Autism's Lacrosse Buddies program.


Radford University  

Radford University Summary: (4/4/09)
The inaugural Lacrosse for Autism at Radford University (VA) was organized by senior Jessie Fuller and the Women's Lacrosse Club to benefit Lacrosse for Autism. The event was hosted by Radford University Athletics Department on April 4-5, 2009 with teams participating from Lynchburg, Liberty, SU, and Radford. The event raised over $ 750.00 in donations to Lacrosse for Autism and the team hopes to grow the event in 2010. Thanks for your support !!!


Battle Across the Sound  

Battle Across the Sound Summary: (4/11/09)
Battle Across the Sound benefiting the Lacrosse Buddies Program was hosted by Darien High School (CT) on April 11th, 2009 featuring Manhasset HS (NY) vs Darien HS (CT) at noon followed by Garden City HS (NY) vs New Canaan HS (CT) at 2:30pm. The rainy weather soaked all the fans but as each team battled for this years bragging rights...Manhasset just edged out Darien 14-13 followed by Garden City beating New Canaan 13-4. Thank you to all the fans and players for supporting Lacrosse for Autism.


OHIO  

OHIO Summary: (4/21/09)
The inaugural Lacrosse for Autism at Ursuline Academy (OH) was organized by Carolina May to raise funds through Lacrosse for Autism for the Thomas A. Wildey Playground fund. Caroline is a Ursuline Academy sophmore lacrosse player who organized and promoted the event locally through her fellow teammates and thier families. Despite the rainy weather, the event was a success with raising over $ 700.00 for the playground...Great job Caroline and thanks for making Lacrosse for Autism a part of your event!!


Summit NJ  

Summit NJ Summary: (4/25/09)
The inaugural Lacrosse for Autism at Summit (NJ) was organized by local seventh grader Matthew Muller with support from the Summit Youth Lacrosse league families. Matthew's project included promoting and raising donations through an event tee-shirt for the Madison HS vs Summit HS varsity game. The event was a success from Matt's emailing all his friends and league families to purchase the tees which included TWO raffle chances for a Cascade CPV and many other prizes. The event was a huge success with Matt raising over $ 1670.00 donation to Lacrosse for Autism in his FIRST YEAR...Great Job Matt!!!


Youngstown PA  

Youngstown PA Summary: (4/25/09)
The inaugural Lacrosse for Autism at YSU (Youngstown State University, PA) was organized by club lacrosse player Frank Braverso and the YSU lacrosse team. With the support of his team and athletic department, Frank organized and promoted an event to raise funds for The Rich Center for Autism on the YSU campus. Lacrosse teams from Cal U of PA, Xavier University and YSU played a tournament format event at Stambaugh Stadium to rasie autism awareness. The event was a huge success and raised a $ 500.00 donation to The Rich Center for Autism in the event's FIRST YEAR...Great Job FRANK!!!


Fairfield University  

Fairfield University Summary: (4/25/09)
The second annual Lacrosse for Autism at Fairfield University (CT) hosted St. Johns University Red Storm vs Fairfield University Stags on Lessing Field on Fairfield campus. The Fairfield Stags handed the Red Storm a 17-5 loss in front of a large crowd during springfest weekend while rasing autism awareness for Stamford Education 4 Autism. Thanks for another great event and for supporting Connecticut autism awareness.


Westhampton Beach  

Westhampton Beach Summary: (5/1/09)
The inaugural Lacrosse for Autism at Westhampton Beach HS (NY) was the first east end Long Island event for 2009. The rainy Friday night, WHB Boys Varsity team hosted Islip High School organized by WHB varsity coach Ralph Pepe and the entire WHB Athletic Department. The night was a sucess raising autism awareness with Islip beating WHB 11-5.Thank you to Coach Pepe and all the fans!!!


C.W.Post  

C.W.Post Summary: (5/2/09)
The inaugural Lacrosse for Autism at CW Post was the first-ever Division II girls event. The event was organized by CW Post player and Bethpage NY native Kian Lyons. Kian's hard work and dedication turned this Long Island Rivalry of #1 Adelphi vs #2 CW Post into an amazing Lacrosse for Autism event. The weather cleared up just in time for the 1:00pm draw and the game did not disappoint. CW Post fought a great battle in front of an impressive home crowd, but came up short as Adelphi won 14-9. Thanks to Kian and the entire CW Post Athletic Department for a great event.


St John's University  

St John's University Summary: (5/3/09)
The inaugural Lacrosse for Autism at St. John's University (NY) hosted Duke University Blue Devils vs St. John's University Red Storm. Despite the wet weather, the event drew a record crowd of 1200+ fans to watch this final game of the regular season. St. John fans walked away disappointed with the 20-7 loss but begin to look forward to the newly created BIG EAST conference 2010 season. Special thanks to Karli Hausmann, Kyle Geddes, and assistant coach Dan Paccione for a great event for autism awareness in Queens, New York.
